How to get a motorcycle license
Yes you need a motorcycle license to ride a scooter.
We have the DMV Motorcycle Driver Handbook at our Shop if you would like to stop by and pick one up. Alternatively, you may get one at any California DMV location. Study the handbook and then take the written test at the DMV. Once you pass you will have an instruction permit. To get your Motorcycle license you need to take the rider test at the DMV. You should schedule an appointment to do this. However, we recommend that you sign up for a motorcycle training course given by the California Highway Patrol and if you are under 21 you must complete one of these courses. Once you successfully pass this course you are given a graduation card and a DMV certificate which you take to the DMV and they will give you your motorcycle license. You will not have to take the DMV riding test. Many insurance companies offer discounts to motorcycle course graduates.
